Sheffield Organic Growers-Nick Johnson

Sheffield Organic Growers-Nick Johnson

A former Soil Association apprentice, Nick learnt how to grow the full range of vegetables at Troed-y-Rhiw Organic Farm for three seasons. He met Huw at the last apprenticeship seminar attended and hearing there was an opportunity at Sheffield Organic Growers, decided to take the next step in his growing career to plan and run a market garden. Nick has been supplying his own veg scheme as Sheffield Organic Growers, Knab Farm Shop, Zeds, Seven Hills Bakery, Nether Edge Farmers Market, Picture house Social and Beanies Wholefoods. Four independent organic growers, on a 12-acre site, situated in the beautiful Moss Valley on the outskirts of Sheffield. Growing a range of vegetables, fruit and herbs, selling through independent grocers and veg box schemes all based in the city of Sheffield. They are certified by either the Soil Association or the Bio-dynamic Association. All the growers are united in their drive to support the local community, environment and economy. They are always happy to show people around and create links with other organisations. They also provide opportunities for young people and adults with learning disabilities to gain experience through our Growing Experience project. Regather veg-box customers can enjoy fruit, veg and organic apple juice from Sheffield Organic Growers farm.

Thanks for all of the work that you've been doing - tasty produce, community initiatives, and sustainable approaches. Excellent.
